Croissants with Homemade Carrot Jam

For jam: Squeeze Juice of a lemon and oranges and cut some strips of orange and lemon zest. Add water and boil. Wash and grate the carrots, apple peel and cut it into small pieces. Add sugar and spices than add all together to the boiling water. Cook for 30 to 45 minutes and repeatedly stirred. Remove from heat and add the essential oil. Mix well and pour into sterilized jars. Allow the jam to cool. Mix flour and baking powder, add a butter and knead the dough. Roll out to a thickness of approx. 2 mm. with the help of molds for ravioli or a glass with a circle diameter of 7 cm. In the center of each circle put half teaspoon of carrot jam and roll them like pancakes. Bake at 180 degrees approx. 20-25 minutes. Baked sprinkle with sugar.

  1. Hello as already written on another page for this recipe, it looks very appealing.. One thing though has to be precised : croissants are not a French dessert. They are offered only for breakfast. Their creation is related to Vienna history (almost invaded by the Turks) so originally they were not even French 😊. SO no problem at all with the recipe, just for you to know about French food culture.
    You have plain croissant (curved) and the best ones “au beurre” straight. Sometime they are topped with toasted almonds, confectioner’s sugar and even filled with chocolate ( but you also have “pains au chocolat”). Not served as a dessert at the end of a meal.
